A good business website in Kenya needs at least five core pages: Home, About, Services (ideally one page per service), Contact, and a page that proves your work, such as a portfolio, case studies or reviews. Depending on your business, you may also need pricing, FAQs, a blog and legal pages.

Here's what each page should include, and the features that turn visitors into enquiries.

The essential pages

1. Home page

Your home page has a few seconds to answer three questions: What do you do? Who is it for? What should I do next?

Include:

  • A clear headline that says what you offer, not just a slogan.
  • A short line on who you serve and where (for example "Nairobi and across Kenya").
  • Two clear actions, such as "Get a quote" and "Chat on WhatsApp".
  • Your main services, with links to each service page.
  • Proof: work samples, client logos or reviews.

2. Service pages

Give every main service its own page. This is one of the most important things you can do for Google, because each page can target a specific search such as "office cleaning Nairobi" or "company profile design Kenya".

Each service page should cover:

  • What the service is and who it's for.
  • What's included.
  • Prices or starting prices, if you can share them.
  • Examples of your work.
  • The process and typical timelines.
  • FAQs.
  • A clear call to action.

3. About page

People buy from businesses they trust. Explain who you are, how long you've been operating, what you believe in and who's on the team. Real photos of your people and premises work far better than stock images.

4. Portfolio, case studies or reviews

Show, don't tell. Depending on your industry this could be:

  • Photos of completed projects.
  • Case studies with the challenge, what you did and the outcome.
  • Google reviews and client testimonials.

5. Contact page

Make contacting you effortless:

  • Phone number (tap to call on mobile).
  • WhatsApp button.
  • Email address.
  • A short enquiry or quote form.
  • Location or service areas, opening hours and a map if customers visit you.

Pages that help many businesses

Page When you need it
Pricing When customers compare costs before contacting you
FAQs When you answer the same questions repeatedly
Blog or guides When you want to rank on Google for questions customers ask
Industry pages When you serve distinct sectors, such as schools or real estate
Careers When you hire regularly
Privacy policy Always, especially if you collect personal data through forms. Kenya's Data Protection Act applies

Features every Kenyan business website needs

  • Mobile-first design. Most visitors will be on a phone.
  • Fast loading. Compress images and avoid heavy plugins.
  • WhatsApp and click-to-call buttons on every page.
  • A secure connection (SSL), shown by the padlock in the browser.
  • Google Analytics and Search Console so you can see visitors and search performance.
  • A clear call to action on every page.
  • Consistent business details: the same name, phone and location as your Google Business Profile.

A simple website structure

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Putting every service on one long page.
  • Hiding the phone number or WhatsApp button.
  • Using only stock photos.
  • Writing about yourself instead of the customer's problem.
  • No prices or price guidance at all, which sends price-sensitive visitors to competitors.
  • Never updating the site after launch.

Frequently asked questions

What pages should a business website have?

At minimum: Home, About, a page for each main service, Contact, and a page that proves your work such as a portfolio, case studies or reviews. Many businesses also need pricing, FAQs, a blog and a privacy policy.

Should each service have its own page?

Yes. Separate service pages help customers find what they need and let each page rank on Google for a specific search.

Does a business website need a privacy policy in Kenya?

If you collect personal data, for example through a contact form, you should publish a privacy policy explaining how you use it, in line with Kenya's Data Protection Act.
